In the free write up we provide a top play at each pricing tier. For a bigger breakdown of the event, this week click the "Join 925 Nation" Button. It's the best value in PGA DFS in the industry.
Last week in this write up we gave you: Patrick Cantlay (T17), Abraham Ancer (T43), Bryson (T5), and Carlos Ortiz (T26). Those four combined had an average finish of 22nd. What you missed out on in our Membership write up is that we had Adam Scott as a Core Play who ended up winning last week. This marks the 3rd straight week in which a core or high exposure for 925 has won.
WGC Events are typically ones that I tend to avoid. I will not be playing that much this week, and it will be the least I have played in 2020. My exposure this week will be a lot like during the fall swing.
SLATE BREAKDOWN:
TOP PLAYS THIS WEEK
High Tier:
Webb Simpson: Simpson is such an interesting play this week. He has really struggled at this event with his best finish only being T37. But Webb is the best stat fit in the field this week as he ranks T6 or better in Ball Striking, Strokes Gained Total, Total Putting, SG AP, and Scrambling. He is in great form as well, with an average finish of 4th in 5 starts on tour. If he had great course history he would be the 3rd highest price player. But to get him at 9.8K simply feels way too cheap. I will take the ownership edge on him this week.
Mid Tier:
Bubba Watson: Bubba simply could not putt at all last week, but the rest of his game was there. It is well established that putting comes and goes randomly for golfers. I fully expect him to be able to make some putts or at least make 25% of the putts that he should've last week. The blessing in disguise with Bubb's MC last week is that we get him really cheap this week. He is still a top 10 stat fit, and has decent course history. Course HIstory = Average finish of 24th. I expect him to push for a top 10.
Low Tier:
Tyrell Hatton: Hatton will end up being my second most owned player this week. He has an average finish of 10th at this event in 3 starts. He has made 11 cuts in a row as well. The only reason he is priced this low is because we have not seen him in months. But at his price point, it is certainly worth the "risk". He will be my 2nd most owned player this week. Essentially if you love Tommy Fleetwood you're getting the same play in Hatton just a lot cheaper.
Value Tier:
Carlos Ortiz: Ortiz is from Mexico which very well may drive his ownership up this week. But this guy should be familiar with this type of course. He has been really solid this whole year, and it seems like Ortiz is very underpriced. In a week where we are trying to get ownership towards the High Tier, we need to attack the value tier, and I will be doing that this week with Carlos Ortiz.
